Competition at Glen Isle Peninsula, Palnackie, Dumfries & Galloway, Scotland
Competitors brave the mud flats of the Urr Water estuary to try to catch the heaviest flounder – or the smallest, or the largest – by walking across the mud, trapping the fish beneath their feet. They used to use leisters – three-pronged spears – but these are now disallowed, probably on healthy & safety grounds.
Entry is free. See – www.visitsouthernscotland.co.uk – for more details.
